It is only possible to benefit from market advantages with unconventional solutions. That also applies to precision positioning. For decades, we at PI have been successfully solving the positioning and motion problems of our customers from research departments of large companies or fundamental research and make sure that they are able to make that decisive step forwards. 1. Understanding the Task

Does that not sound self-evident? If necessary and particularly for high-tech applications, it is decisive to take a much closer look at the application in order to find out exactly what is "hurting" the customer. This can only be successful with technically experienced contacts in the sales force, in development, and even members of the service staff. They all have to know where the critical points are in an application so that they can provide the optimum solution. Ideally, assistance is provided by PI market specialists who are familiar with specific requirements of their market segments and speak the language of the user.

2. Constructive Collaboration

The specialists stay with the customer from the initial ideas to realization and consignment. Important for tricky tasks: During the development phase, both PI and the customer work together on an equal footing and any changes are always notified if they affect the concept. 

3. Using the Technological Diversity

Those who have to rely on innovative solutions, may not be restricted by the choice of technology. There may be several solutions for a number of applications. An example is the question of nanometer precision for travel ranges that are longer than those of classical piezo drives. In this case, PI can use linear motors with air bearings that work with particularly high precision. Or, piezo motors can be used if nonmagnetic drives are required. Hybrid drives take advantage of combinations, for example, electric motors and piezo or voice coil. As far as control is concerned, the question is whether an individual solution with quickly usable software packages for integration is suitable or whether industrial interfaces are required. It's good when everything comes from one single source!

4. Being Creative

Creativity at the push of a button seldom works. But when sophisticated tasks are on the agenda that come from the development departments of large companies or from fundamental research, an open and creative environment occurs all by itself. Proof of this comes from the large number of scientific publications that mostly would not have been possible without the corresponding positioning solutions from PI. 

5. Drawing on Experience

Realizing new requirements from research departments is the day-to-day business for development departments. However, it is never just routine! Each request and each customer is supplied with an individually optimized solution. It is important to draw on the rich wealth of experience from previously realized projects and developments in technology.
